Minimally invasive, totally reversible surgical treatment:
Gastroplasty by Heliogast® adjustable band
Principle of gastroplasty
Gastroplasty does not alter the physiology of digestion and is not a "mutilation". It makes it possible for the patient to follow a low-calorie diet for the duration of the implant by acting simply as an anorectic device and a safeguard.
The gastric band makes it possible to reduce the volume of the stomach. In this way the feeling of satiety is almost immediate. The patient can eat everything (no feeling of frustration) but in small quantities.
Gastroplasty is completely reversible. This aspect is fundamental for Hélioscopie. No sectioning, or stapling of the stomach is necessary.
The technique by laparoscopy (closed stomach) requires 1 to 3 days in hospital with reduction of surgical trauma, pain and, above all, the morbidity experienced with laparotomy (closed stomach) in a person suffering from obesity. It is possible to readjust the diameter of the stomach remotely by simple percutaneous puncture during a consultation.
Functioning of the Héliogast® band
Heliogast® is a range of gastric bands for the surgical treatment of morbid obesity.
The internal part of the band is extended by a catheter which is connected by a lock to an implantable site (titanium and silicone box) placed under the skin. This system, which is located by palpation or radiology, makes it possible to adjust the diameter of the band.

Regular follow-ups and multi-disciplinary care
Due to the presence of the Heliogast® gastric band, the patient will feel a sensation of satiety very quickly after his/her dietary intake. This will allow the patient to concentrate on the other aspects of obesity.
It is at this stage that the multi-disciplinary care comes into play with the help of diet therapy, a psycho-behavioural approach and, of course, the practice of sport.
Optimum loss of weight is reached at the end of 18 months and the result is considered to be perfect when there is a loss of at least 50% of the initial excess weight
